Letters, 1846, 1854, 1891.

Three letters written by Samuel Longfellow. The first, from Cambridge, Mass., Sept. 1, 1846, is to Samuel Johnson, Salem, Mass., and is written to "Dear Sam and Frank." In it Longfellow describes a visit he made to Fairhaven, Mass., as well as details about the publishing and sales of the "Book of hymns." The second letter, from Brooklyn, N.Y., Sept. 13, 1854, is addressed "Dear Sir," and offers Longfellow's condolences on the death of the addressee's wife and daughter. The third letter, from Cambridge, Mass., April 15, 1891, to "Dear Sir," includes a fragment of writing of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow beginning "Ferber, in his Travels through Italy ..." The collection also contains a copy of "Song for the senior class of 1839" written by Samuel Longfellow while attending Harvard College.
